To begin our tour from Hobart, we travel south to Geeveston for morning tea with the potential to buy fresh local delights for a packed lunch.

Continue on to view the remote Arve Falls and onto the Hartz Mountains. Enjoy an alpine walk to our lunch-time stop at either Lake Esperance or Lake Osborne (subject to weather & fitness levels).  

Return to the car and travel to the Arve River picnic ground where passengers may partake on a beautiful walk along the river among the manferns.

Depending on the time, we can return to Hobart directly or if time permits, travel back to Geeveston for afternoon tea (or other refreshment) and a short stroll along Platypus Walk.

On the way into Hobart a short visit to the Pinnacle Observation Shelter at the top of Mount Wellington may be possible, subject to time availability and weather.

Important Information

Southern 4WD Tour’s day trips depart from Hobart and return to the same pickup location/collection point.

Within several hours, passengers can experience world-class natural environments including spectacular coastal scenery and pristine alpine regions and still be back in time for a delightful dinner in Hobart.

Such locations usually require some travel on gravel roads, and your tour vehicle is ideally suited to this.

As we plan to carry a maximum of 4 customers, tours can be adjusted to cater for specific interests, wildlife and culinary delights as necessary.

All trips incorporate some outdoor walking which is generally quite easy. Customers should wear or bring appropriate outdoor clothing for Tasmania and be suitably healthy and fit to enjoy these walks.

The full daily tour fee is applicable whether there are 1, 2, 3 or 4 customers. If customers request a tour with less participants, this may be available for a reduced cost under certain conditions – however, requests for tours with less than 4 participants are approved only by special arrangement.
